Dave Gunning
Dave Gunning has been a favourite of mine since he first entered the Maritime music scene. It will be a great pleasure to have this double ECMA award winner bestow his talent upon us on August 23rd!

During the 2008 ECMA Gala Awards Show on Sunday, February 10th in Fredericton, NB, Dave won in both his categories, Male Artist of the Year and Folk Recording of the Year for his latest album, "House For Sale". Here's more of what's being said about Dave...

“Dave Gunning is the next big thing in the True North of Song, an artist as compelling, as assured and attentive to every nuance of the writing and performing process as Lightfoot, Cockburn and Stan Rogers before him.” GREG QUILL, TORONTO STAR

“Dave Gunning is my favourite young Canadian songwriter right now.” CANADIAN SONGWRITER RON HYNES

Dave Gunning's fifth album “House For Sale” was released June 26, 2007. Among it's highlights are co-writes/duets with Canadian country star George Canyon, and Newfoundland’s Ron Hynes.

Meanwhile, Dave is also featured on "Atlantic Standards 2,” a Warner Music Canada release celebrating the musical talent of Atlantic Canada. Dave also sings on "Borrowed Tunes 2: A Canadian Tribute to Neil Young.” The 2-CD album also features Barenaked Ladies, Raine Maida, Tom Cochrane, Ron Sexsmith, Liam Titcomb, and Finger Eleven.

A singer/storyteller, Dave grew up in Lyons Brook, Nova Scotia. He made his recording debut with "Lost Tracks" (1996), followed by "Caught Between Shadows" (2000), "Dave Gunning Live" (2002), "Two-Bit World" (2004) and “Dave Gunning Christmas” (2006).

In 2005 Dave picked up an award from the Music Industry of Nova Scotia (MIANS) for Folk Album of the Year for "Two-Bit World.” In 2006, Dave headlined his own shows throughout Canada. As well, he did a national tour opening for country singer George Canyon, and was a special guest for INXS at The Halifax Metro Centre.

In the summer of 2007, Dave appeared in two episodes of the hit TV show “Trailer Park Boys” on Showcase. He played a forest ranger.

Dave is touring extensively in Canada throughout 2007 and 2008 in support of “House For Sale.” As well, he will embark on his first tour of the United Kingdom in November. This “Canadian Frost” tour also features Jessica Rhaye and Matt Andersen.
